Finally it is time for MAYA. I have started an official thread over at Millarworld.tv where I will show concept art and making of stuff from the series. If you are interested in creating comics you should check it out. If you like my art and looking forward to my creator owned work this is the place to bookmark…

Welcome to my new video series ‘Draw & Paint’. What began as a small sketch video series now is a tutorial series in High Definition (HD)! It is made for all fans of my work, comic fans and aspiring artists out there. The best part: It is complete free of charge and you can embed the videos in your blog, website and so on. You also can download the original size videos at the vimeo site. Because I can upload only 500MB each week you will have to wait for the second part of the ‘Hellgirl’ paint video until next week (UPDATE: The second part is online now!). Here are the links to the sketch video and the paint videos:
‘Draw & Paint’ – Hellgirl – Sketch Video
‘Draw & Paint’ – Hellgirl – Paint Video – Part 1 of 2
‘Draw & Paint’ – Hellgirl – Paint Video – Part 2 of 2 – NEW!
Please spread the word! You can use this image. Have fun and drop me a line if you like the new series! (Hellboy Copyright by Mike Mignola!)
Edit: You now can find the embedded videos on this blog by clicking on ‘Videos’ in the top menu. To watch the High Definition (HD) videos you have to go to the vimeo site because the embedded videos are NOT in HD!

As I have said before in my last post: I thought it’s time to use some of the new internet technology to show how I work… and I have to say: YouTube isn’t made for sketch videos because of the bad compression and the time lags. I’ve searched for another video portal and I have found ‘vimeo’ which is great for tutorial videos. Vimeo also allows HD movie uploads. So here it is again: My first video of the new sketch video series. The first part of the video series is showing the sketching of Prof. Charles Xavier and Rogue from the X-Men.
If you want to comment the new series you can do this on ‘vimeo’ or you can send me feedback directly via the ‘Contact’ form above. Let me know what (or which character) you want to see in the next part of the series.

I thought it’s time to use some of the new internet technology to show how I work. So I’ve created the first video for my new sketch video series on YouTube. The first part of the video series is showing the sketching of Prof. Charles Xavier and Rogue from the X-Men.
If you want to comment the new series you can do this on YouTube or you can send me feedback directly via the ‘Contact’ form above. Let me know what (or which character) you want to see in the next part of the series.
UPDATE: Please don’t view the YouTube video and use the vimeo link above instead! YouTube is compressing the video so it is unwatchable. Vimeo is working great and the better choice for sketch videos!
Here you can see the four Blueline sketchcards I did for the Blueline American Cancer Society auction. You can read more about the auction here: Information about the auction!
The cards will be shown at an exhibit in Florence (Kentucky) and after this exhibit the cards will be auctioned on eBay.
So this is your big chance to get an original sketch of ‘Captain Pike’ from ‘It Came From Beneath The Sea… Again!’! I bet you all are feeling like it is Christmas right now, am I right?
hehehe…
I wish you all a happy and successful new year 2008! Thank you all very much for the fantastic ride of the last months and your encouraging feedback! Now a new year began and things are already looking better than I had first thought while starting my career as a freelance artist in 2007. I did not anticipate all the fantastic projects and new contacts this fast to happen so I was pleasently surprised by all the awesome opportunities presented in 2007.
For 2008 I have huge plans and there will be fantastic stuff to talk about. So make sure to visit my blog frequently or subscribe to it!
Talk to you later in 2008!
Chris.
With todays post I want to thank all fans who went to the 62. Intercomic convention in Cologne. It was great to meet you there and talking to you all. I had a great time and it was a fantastic con.
With the following links you can see two photographs from the con. By clicking the eyes to the left you can see one of my sketches.

Here I’m signing and sketching.
Thanks again!
Best wishes,
Chris
After finishing some new covers for the Maddrax spinoff series I did a promo pic for my creator owned series I’m planning to launch in 2008 after finishing the Ray Harryhausen comics.
I will write the story and also will do the complete artwork for the series. The title of the book is ‘Maya’ and it will show the story of a young girl with special powers on her search for freedom and peace in a world she can’t understand.
The official website you will find at www.MayaComic.de.
But for now… back to my current projects in 2007…
I started a new blog sketchbook today where I will post some more unfinished works and stuff I’m doing for fun and practice. I put the first images online today and there will be more coming soon. Working on so much cool projects has the sideeffect I can’t post much new stuff for weeks and I’m trying to change this by putting out more unfinished sketches in this new sketchbook.
You can click on the image to the left or you can find a textlink at the right menu.

Here are the first finished pages from the book together with an alternate cover. All art (layouts, pencils, inks and colors) is done by myself. Let me know what you think! Click the thumbnails to view the bigger versions:
There will be a preview book out in October 2007 from Bluewater Productions Inc. The titel is ‘Ray Harryhausen Presents’ and it shows five page previews of many Ray Harryhausen comics Bluewater is publishing. In this book you will find a five page preview of ‘It Came From Beneath The Sea… Again!’ and the best at last: The book will cost only 99cent!!!
Today I’ve finished my new digital character painting called ‘Lollipop Pet’.
If you are interested in how I created this image watch out for the new issue of the German gamedeveloper magazine ‘GameStar/dev’. It will show detailed steps in a new workshop tutorial on how I created this pinup using Photoshop and a Wacom Intuos2 DinA5 art tablet.
You also can order different prints of the final image at ‘deviantart‘. The print can be ordered in the sizes 5×7, 9×12 and 18×24 inches and on different papers.
Other news for today: The new issue (number 195) of ‘MADDRAX’ is out now. It contains some information on me and you can get a first glimpse of my first cover for the new spinoff series called ‘Das Volk der Tiefe’ which will be available later this year.
To all MADDRAX fans: This is the moment you have been waiting for…
.
To the left you can see the official logo for the new MADDRAX spinoff series.
After many speculations about what the story will be about in the official forum to the series you now can get a first sneak peek at the first two covers by clicking on the little ‘meatlover’ to the right. This will bring you to my online sketchbook where you can see two small versions of the cover art.
Let the speculation continue…
You also can check out the covers directly here:
First of all: By clicking the girl image to the left you can download a desktop wallpaper in the size 1280x1024px which I did as a color test. This is your chance to get your daily dose of Chris for free…
And because it is official now here is a little update on my ‘Maddrax Project‘: I am the cover artist for the twelve issue spinoff series of Maddrax. If you don’t know Maddrax: It is the most successful SciFi-Horror novel series in Germany. The titel of the spinoff series is ‘Das Volk der Tiefe’. Watch out for Maddrax #195 where you can read some more information about me and the cool new series.
All my plans for the dark and gritty stuff will have to wait a little longer. There is too many other stuff going on here right now. First: The new issue of the biggest German game developer magazine ‘GameStar/dev‘ is out now. It contains my ‘Making Of’ which shows how I made the ‘Scientist In Love’ image from idea to final. The article shows some first idea thumbnails which are very small in print. I do this thumbnails very fast and very small to get an idea down on paper. You can see bigger versions of the thumbnail images here
‘Click here for thumbnails – part 1‘
‘Click here for thumbnails – part 2‘
And while showing some thumbnails here are some more from ‘Alpha Bettie‘ visualization work:
‘Click here for Alpha Bettie thumbnails‘
Second: There should be good Alpha Bettie news soon
.
And finally something else I’m very excited about: I will work on another new very cool comic project soon! Right now I’m afraid I can’t tell you more. You will have to wait for the official press release… maybe I can tell you more after New York Comic Con…
